WELCOME to the American Conference on Theoretical Chemistry 2022 which will take place from July 25 - 28, 2022, in beautiful Palisades Tahoe, California (formerly Squaw Valley), next to Lake Tahoe. Until Covid-19 caused its cancellation in 2020 and '21, ACTC had been held every three years since 1972. ACTC brings together the theoretical chemistry community to discuss the latest cutting-edge research. ACTC 2022 will cover a broad range of topics within theoretical chemistry, including electronic structure, statistical mechanics, and quantum dynamics, as well as applications to biology and energy science.
ACTC will also provide opportunities for students, postdoctoral scholars, and assistant professors to disseminate their work and to expose current faculty to promising new talent. ACTC will offer invited speaking opportunities for approximately a half dozen postdoctoral scholars and assistant professors, who will be selected via a Lightning Talk competition described at the Lightning Talk tab.
All conference sessions will be held at the Events Center at The Village at Palisades Tahoe, with talks Monday through Thursday and poster sessions on Monday and Tuesday evenings. On Wednesday evening, ACTC participants will enjoy exclusive use of the aerial tram to High Camp (see the photo above!). At High Camp (elevation 8,200 feet) enjoy dinner, lively conversation, and a magnificent view. Purchase your tickets on the registration page. Guests with tickets are warmly invited to participate.
We are especially grateful to several entities for providing generous financial support. The Air Force Office of Scientific Research has supplied funding to reimburse the registration fees for approximately 25 students and postdocs (apply here). The Department of Energy has provided funding to offset the registration fees for the first 100 student and postdoc registrants. The journals JCTC, JPC, and Chemical Reviews have donated cash poster prizes.
We look forward to seeing you at ACTC 2022!
